Secret Invasion (Marvel Event)

Secret Invasion (Marvel Event)

"Secret Invasion" is a comic book crossover storyline that ran through a self-titled eight issue limited series and several titles published by Marvel Comics from April through December 2008. The story involves a subversive, long-term invasion of Earth by the alien Skrulls. Capable of shapeshifting, the Skrulls have secretly replaced many of Marvel's heroes with impostors over a period of years, prior to the overt invasion. Marvel's promotional tagline for the event was "Who do you trust?"

After the Kree-Skrull War a group of Earth's superheroes - Iron Man; Mister Fantastic; Namor; Black Bolt; Professor Charles Xavier and Doctor Strange - band together as a group called the Illuminati to secretly confront the Skrulls. The characters attack the Skrull Empire, and warn that any further invasion attempts of Earth would mean further reprisals. The characters, however, are captured and intensely studied before escaping.

In a final battle Veranke is wounded by the Avenger Hawkeye, and then killed by villain Norman Osborn. A Skrull activates a booby trap placed on heroine the Wasp, although the blast in contained by Thor at the cost of her life. The last remnants of the Skrull armada is destroyed, with Iron Man locating the missing heroes. S.H.I.E.L.D. is dissolved by executive order of the President of the United States, while a last Skrull, posing as Avengers' butler Edwin Jarvis, flees with the child of hero Luke Cage. Norman Osborn forms a new version of the Avengers, calling the team the Dark Avengers.

Wade Wilson's early life is mostly unknown. His mother died of cancer while he was young and his father (who was in the military) was physically abusive. Wade was a deliquint in his teenage years, possibly to spite his father. However one night while drinking with his friends his father attempt to take him out of the club one of his friends stole Wade's Fathers handgun and killed him. Following a brief stint of military service, Wade began his mercenary career while still in his late teens. Accepting assassination jobs only against those whom he felt deserved death, he made a habit of using plastic surgery and technology to take on a new identity whenever he failed an assignment. Many years later Deadpool's nemisis[T-Ray] accussed Deadpool of killing his wife and stealing his identity after a failed mission, but Deadpool's restored memories revealed this to be a lie; in T-Ray's account Wade was wearing his Deadpool costume, which he didn't have in till after he joined Weapon X.

Serenity: Those Left Behind

Serenity: Those Left Behind

Serenity: Those Left Behind is a 2005 three-issue comic book miniseries published by Dark Horse Comics. It was written by Joss Whedon and Brett Matthews, illustrated by Will Conrad, and colored by Laura Martin. It is the first comic book series to be based on Whedon's short-lived 2002 television series Firefly and the 2005 feature film into which it was adapted, Serenity. The story is set between the end of the series and the beginning of the film, and depicts (among other things) what happens to Lawrence Dobson, the Alliance secret agent who attempted to capture Simon and River Tam in the pilot episode of Firefly, also titled "Serenity."
